Enhancing clothing authenticity and wardrobe management with NFC technology

Learn how Burning Bros help FAIX streamline operations with innovative NFC clothing solutions.

FAI-X project uses NFC technology to verify clothing authenticity and offers a mobile app for wardrobe management. It also includes an admin site for managing clothing data. The project began by compiling the client’s existing clothing information and linking it to NFC codes, which led to the successful completion of a demo stage.

Key Features & Product Characteristics

The project is built around features that prioritize authenticity, convenience, and organization, delivering a seamless experience for both consumers and administrators.

  • NFC Tag Scan: Users can scan NFC tags on their clothing via the app to quickly check their authenticity. This simple process ensures that customers can easily verify if their garments are genuine.
  • Authenticity Verification: Once the NFC tag is scanned, the app connects with the server to verify the authenticity of the clothing. The user receives instant results, confirming whether their item is original or not.
  • Wardrobe Management: Certified clothing information can be added to users’ virtual wardrobes. This feature allows users to keep track of their verified apparel collection, making it easy to organize and view their clothes.
  • Clothing Information Registration: Admins can input new clothing items into the system through the administrator site, associating them with their corresponding NFC tags for easy verification and management.
  • Data Management: The admin site also enables the management and analysis of clothing data, user profiles, and NFC tag details. This allows for deeper insights into user interactions and item authenticity.

Challenges & Solutions

A significant challenge in this project was effectively organizing and integrating the client's existing clothing and NFC code data. The complex task of defining relationships among these datasets and mapping them for use in a live demo required detailed planning. Overcoming these challenges allowed the team to successfully bring the project to its demonstration stage, offering a proof of concept for future implementation.

Developement process

We started by setting the system's goals and creating a development roadmap. Then, we refined the planned features, designed the system structure, and visually implemented the user interface to enhance user experience. Finally, we developed the system, verified its functionality, and conducted thorough testing.
